“I have noticed a couple of my kids use the POWords in certain small group situations, and it'll be during an activity where maybe they're working on a project, and one child is not focusing and this one little girl I've heard multiple times say, You can do it. You're such a good worker.”

“I am super grateful that you guys brought this program to our school and that I was trained as part of the pilot group. I resonate with the program and principles a hundred percent and I believe that this is something that can help our students and even us stay positive and focused on how to make things happen. I have been able to use some of the activities outside of the classroom and have truly enjoyed doing it. We celebrated the 75th day of school by hop scotching our affirmations into the 175th day. Both parents and students loved it!”

“During session 5 Affirming our unique qualities, the students shared their ideas, they were strongly motivated highlighting the qualities and abilities of each one, they were very happy. It begins to be seen how children can already handle a larger vocabulary thanks to the POWORDS, they appropriate them and remind each other of them. ”

“I decided to implement the Superhero Program with two of our Frist Grade Classes. In the first three sessions students were more interested in sharing superhero stories and egger to relate it to real life situations. Then afterwards, I’ve noticed that students were able to identify the Powords and share stories from their own experience on how they are their own superheroes. Students mostly enjoyed the Audio portion of the program as it is new to many of them in learning guided meditation.
Another important observation I made was that students were able to verbalize freely with no judgement about certain situation they felt fear/scared and used their Powords to help relax their mind and body. As for me as a facilitator, hearing the students’ stories has been truly rewarding and allowed me to pause for a couple of minutes and reflect on how I continue to plant the seed for many children.”Griselda Fagoaga

“Before starting the first session, each one was given the evaluation "My inner superhero". They worked completely individually, coloring the emojis that were presented. The boys were welcomed by creating a space where they felt safe and comfortable, making them feel excited about finding their super power, we made a circle for the superhero pact where we would respectfully listen to each other without judging each other.”

“Evelin, one of the girls in fifth grade, said that on some occasions she was not proud of what she has achieved so far because her mother was never satisfied with what she did. As a guide for this session, I told her that she had to find her superpower and that possibly it would be to be resilient because he had the ability to know how to face adverse events in a constructive way.”

“We started our second session with the superhero conversation where they remembered what their mission had been and how superheroes connected with their superpower, we discussed for a few minutes the question: Do superheroes need someone from abroad to give them powers? We had a little debate because some said that they didn't need outside help because they themselves could, but others said that being superheroes they needed the approval of their parents or friends to feel that their superpower acquired more power.”

“During the session Our Power Emerges from Within, the children were contributing some opinions, although they sought to minimize their capacities, we have a beautiful path to follow and work in this group, the changes in adolescence, the lack of respect of their parents towards them and the personal insecurities, they are still strong in them, but we have already started with this change and we long to see positive results with this special work entrusted to us.”

“We listened to the audio "AFFIRMATIONS OF STRENGTH AND CONFIDENCE", each one was located in a special place in the class to listen and analyze it. We commented on how they felt when they were listening to the fact that they are also part of those statements, that it is not just an audio for someone else, they commented that they were nervous, because the session confronts them with themselves and many times they do not feel prepared to believe it. what the session says, but they are really enjoying being able to have this space for themselves.”

“We started to have a conversation, but they couldn't concentrate because they came with a lot of energy because they had just finished recess. So I told them that we would have a break to relax and we did the deep breathing technique. I put relaxing music on them and after relaxing we resumed the activity.”

“They loved the second session as I tried to repeat empowering phrases. We remembered our superhero code, everyone was very excited to repeat it. The group had a conversation and they answered all the questions, we remember how superheroes connected with their powers. When we finished talking, we listened to the audio Affirmations of strength and confidence. The boys looked for a nice place where they would feel comfortable. Each of them repeated in their mind what they liked the most.”

“At the moment of listening to the audio they paid attention. They each took an empowering phrase and repeated it to themselves. At first I had difficulty with Isabella's attitude, because she is not having a good time at home and showed negativity. Despite that, when I made her see how valuable she is, and the superpowers she possesses and can continue to develop, she showed a better attitude.”

“The superhero program has provided me with the opportunity to teach students the effectiveness of self-empowerment through positive affirmations, social-emotional skills and strengthening self-worth missions. At the beginning of the program, it was difficult to set the routine and have the students follow the structure of the program. After the second week students were more engaged with the structure of the program and began to take ownership of the POW-words mentioned.
Making the connection between superhero characteristics and self-worth was very interesting to watch. While some students fully embraced the superhero program by doing their superhero poses and owning their POW-words; others were shy and hesitant to participated in the group activities but 5 weeks in now and even the shy students have begun to participate more. I’m excited to see if students continue to practice the positive affirmations and self-calming breathing technique.”José Luis Vázquez

“The experience of implementing the superhero program with 7th/8th grade students was truly enriching. Witnessing the joy on their faces as we engaged in affirmations was truly heartwarming. Each day, as they entered the classroom, their enthusiasm for reciting affirmations was palpable. Moreover, this program not only positively impacted my interactions with students but also extended to my personal life, fostering a greater sense of positivity and mindfulness.
Thank you for granting Our Lady of Guadalupe the opportunity to introduce the superhero program. My commitment to fostering positivity remains unwavering. I will continue engaging students in positive affirmation discussions and encourage them to recite their affirmations daily. ”Ms. Meza
